A plus for Tony's Academy as they make it eleven unbeaten

3 months ago By Jeremy Fox

Tony Stares' Boro' 19's Academy side sit proudly top of the Youth Alliance Division E, largely thanks to a stunning unbeaten run.

It would have been as sweet a win as they come. Boro's Under 19 Academy this week made it eleven matches unbeaten with a 5-3 win at local rivals Havant & Waterlooville.

The success at South Downs College, ensures Tony Stares' team hold a four point lead at the top of the National League Youth Alliance Division E going into their final two matches. The foundations for their success was a long unbeaten run which stretches back to early January when they lost at Bashley.

Goals from Jack Breed (2), Will Pointon, Kelvin Robinson and Connor Summers secured the points up on Portsdown Hill on Wednesday setting the team up nicely for their final two games, away to Hungerford on April 24th (12 noon) and at home to Basingstoke two days later. (2pm)

They will almost certainly need to win both of those games if they are to harbour any ambitions of winning the title. There are three teams within five points of them with both Bashley in second and Eastleigh in fourth, having three games in hand. But it ensures an exciting finish to the season for the Academy in which they stand a strong chance of finishing as Champions.
