BORO’ made the long trip back to Tiverton, only to lose out by a single goal in this rearranged Evo-Stik League South Premier Division South fixture.
With the injury to Sam Roberts from last Saturday keeping him out of the starting line up, Harry Medway came into the side to play alongside teenager Mathew Weaire at the heart of the BORO’ defence.
The home side started strongly and went ahead after only 6 minutes of play, with what proved to be the only goal of the game, scored by Tiverton’s Lou Landricombe.
The BORO’ immediately went in search of an equaliser and were putting pressure on the home defence.
But a set back for Gosport as Craig McAllister reluctantly had to come off, after an injury in the 33rd minute to be replaced by David Jerrard.
Just before half time, Sam Lanahan had an opportunity to grab a goal for the BORO’ but his effort went just wide of the post, and the half ended with the home side 1 - 0 to the good.
With Pat Suaraci replacing Joe Lea, Gosport Borough needed a strong performance in the second half.
After conceding that early goal in the first half, the BORO’ defence with Mathew Weaire having another good game were looking solid.
The visitors were enjoying periods of good possession, and it was time for the Tivvy to hold on to their slender lead.
With a few minutes to go Pat Suraci went down in the box, only for the penalty appeals to be waved away and the game ended with a narrow victory for Tiverton.
