Billed as the biggest game of the season so far, Bank Holiday Monday's sensational win sets up an even bigger 'Mega Game Of The Season' on Saturday away to the Met Police - kick off 3pm.
BORO' fans were out in force to witness the last home game of the season, against a Wimborne side who themselves were not 100% safe going into Monday's game.
The game started tentatively as both sides couldn't afford to lose the game in their battles to avoid relegation, but it wasn't long before chances came for the BORO' to grab the goal that would settle the nerves in the crowd.
Penners & Ibra came close for the home side, before Macca had probably the best chance of the first half only to see his shot lift over the bar with the keeper beaten.
BORO's defence had to stay strong as the Magpies caused trouble at the other end, with Matt Casey & Sam Roberts having to make vital last ditch tackles to keep things all square going into half time.
Half time 0 - 0
The second half saw the visitors pushing further forward and the BORO' fans were relieved to see the Wimborne strikers efforts hitting the side netting on a couple of occasions, as they went in search of a breakthrough.
Substitute Tony Lee came on to add fresh legs and mix it up a bit upfront and it very nearly paid dividends as he immediately sent a cracking shot goal bound, only to see the Magpies keeper beat it away.
The BORO' fans could sense a goal was there for the taking and cranked up the noise.
The atmosphere inside Privett Park towards the end of the game was amazing, as Gosport pushed to breakdown the Magpies who seemed determined not to succumb to the mounting BORO' pressure.... but Ibra was twisting and turning in the visitors penalty box, and went down after a desperate tackle - penalty to the BORO'.
With just 5 minutes remaining we needed a cool head - up stepped Captain Charlie and he buried it sending the fans wild!
The boys were determined to see the game out, and secured the 3 points winning by that penalty conversion to end the home campaign on a high.
Full time 1 - 0
With Walton Casuals also winning, BORO's victory wasn't quite enough to secure safety, but it puts us in a good position going into Saturday's 'mega game of the season' against Met Police at the 'Imber Court Sports Club Stadium' - kick off 3pm.
Six clubs are now fighting to avoid the last relegation spot - it couldn't be closer.
If we win on Saturday we stay up - if we draw or lose we could stay up!
Its nothing if not exciting......
Come on the BORO'
