Gosport's five game mini season couldn't have got off to better start, than a fantastic 2 -0 victory away to top four Salisbury last Saturday.
Goals from Charlie Davis & Sam Lanahan capped a terrific team performance from the BORO', which puts pressure on the teams just above Gosport in the relegation dog fight.
Going into last Saturday's tough fixture, there was a sense of optimism amongst the players that they had every chance of beating their high flying local rivals Salisbury, if they just could keep playing their own game, and most importantly convert their many chances into goals - and so it proved.
So with just 4 x games left this season the BORO' are still right in the mix, and breathing down the necks of Walton Casuals and Wimborne who are both only 2 points better off on 45 points - with Tiverton & Basingstoke only marginally above them on 46 points....a win on today for BORO' could see us climb out of the relegation zone.
Our visitors this weekend Merthyr Town are currently in 13th place in the league on 49 points with a game in hand on others, and are probably heading for a respectable mid table finish this season.
Certainly Gosport on the face of it have more to play for, but the Boys will need to play well again to overcome 'The Martyrs' who will be hoping to turn around a lack of form recently after 2 successive defeats.
If the BORO' can secure points from the 2nd fixture in their relegation 5 game mini season, it would certainly be a massive boost for all Gosport fans and help build the excitement as we go into the remaining games, which after today are:
Away to Staines - next Saturday 20th.
Home to Wimborne - Bank Holiday Monday 22nd - kick off 3pm.
Away to Metropolitan Police - Saturday 27th.
Please come and support the boys - it’s a massive game
