Saturday started optimistically, with central defender Sam Roberts signing a two year deal.
With both teams desperate for a win and needing the three points, the game started cautiously with both sides trying to exert their presence on their opponents.
Gosport were matching Tiverton in the early stages of the game and chances were few and far between, however on 14 minutes it was the Tivvy that could have taken an early lead, when striker Levi Landricombe beat O'Flaherty in the BORO' goal only to see his effort bounce back off the woodwork, and it was eventually cleared.
The game took a turn for the worse for Gosport Borough when Pat Suraci went down in the 38th minute with what looked like a serious injury.
After lengthy treatment Pat had to come off and was replaced by new signing James Cowan who was making his debut.
The post match news isn’t good, with Pat’s injury diagnosed as a broken bone in his foot which unfortunately means that he is out for the rest of the season.
The play swung in favour the visitors and they were pressing to get their noses ahead....the BORO’ needed to keep it all square and see out the first half and regroup.
However it wasn’t to be, and to the dismay of the home fans amongst the 261 match day crowd, in the 45th minute Joe Lea was adjudged to have handled and Tivvy were awarded a penalty.
Up stepped Landricombe to put Tiverton one up going into the break.
Half time 0 - 1
Gosport Borough needed a strong second half if they were to get something out of the game and came out strongly, taking the game to the visitors.
Enjoying good possesion the BORO’ conjured good efforts from Pennery and captain Charlie Davis which tested Armstrong in the Tivvy goal, but both were beaten away.
On 54 minutes, Gosport decided to change their shape and on came forward Matt Tubbs replacing midfielder Sam Lanahan in an attempt to grab an equaliser.
Tiverton were matching the BORO for effort and holding firm, until in the final minute of game a last ditch goal line clearance from a Tivvy defender frustrated Gosport.
One last chance came and went when in the 4th minute of extra time, an amazing double save from Armstrong denied Macca and then Matt Tubbs...BORO’s luck was out.
The game ended with the visitors securing all 3 points.
Full time 0 - 1
