McAllister takes charge and recruits Tubbs

4 months ago By Josh Miller

Gosport Borough have announced that Craig McAllister has been appointed as first team manager whilst Matt Tubbs joins as player-coach.

“It’s time to look forward and not behind us”

The pair have played together successfully at both Crawley Town and Eastleigh and are excited to advance their careers in football coaching and management with Gosport Borough Football Club.

"I'm really excited and grateful to be giving this opportunity to manage the football club," said McAllister.

"My role at this moment in time is player-manager. I’ll be slowly coming away from the playing side as we progress together. That said I’m really looking forward to playing alongside Matt again.

"It’s time to look forward and not behind us and it’s important that everyone understands this.

"I’ll be realistic about the season targets but one thing for sure is to keep improving on previous seasons. If I didn’t say my aim was to make playoffs I’d be kidding myself. My standards have always been high at starts of seasons so I won’t change that.

"Regarding preparation for pre-season, I’m taking over quite late so things have been put in place but that’s not to say a few things will change.

"I and Matt want to create a good environment for players to come into. We have some very tasty pre-season games - they won’t be easy but a great test for our players. First and foremost, it’s about these players getting fit and ready for the first game of the season.

"Matt comes in as player-coach and to help assist me. He's a top professional and top man. His career speaks for its self and he will bring lots to this football club on and off the pitch."

The club hope everyone will join us in showing great support and wishes for the upcoming season.

You can see the pair in their new roles for the first time in our first pre-season friendly against Havant & Waterlooville on Tuesday 3rd July at Privett Park.
