McInnes addresses the fans

6 months ago By Josh Miller

Iain McInnes updates the fans on rent arrears, improvements off the field, Mick Catlin, the high flying reserves and looking ahead.

Good evening everybody.

I look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow and achieving a result that reflects the effort and spirit that deserves some reward.

We‘ve had little to cheer about of late and although due to a previous commitment I missed a tremendous performance and result against a talented Moneyfields ast night. What a lift that gives us all.

Huge credit must go to Andy (Dave?), Rachel their staff and of course the team in general for achieving a place against ARC Portchester in the semi final of the Portsmouth Cup. That should be quite a match.

Whilst on the subject of AFC Portchester, our previous manager and Gosport legend Mick Carlin will be keen to put one over us I’m sure. He can try!

On a personal note and to dispel the myth that there’s any dispute between GBFC and Mick, I would hasten you to note that he and I (after a few calls) came to a mutually acceptable agreement on severance this week. An agreement that typically of the man, he donated part back to the club to aid it’s financial future. How typical of the man he is. We wish him good fortune except against us and a warm welcome back to his club at anytime.

Worth noting also is our agreed arrangement concluded with Gosport Council on rent arrears now documented and being adhered to. It’s wrong for any business or club to strain council or community budgets in these demanding times and, whilst apologising, I'd like to thank the council and local rate payers alike for their understanding and support.

Of course we need to meet the challenges on field but with sustainable and steady progress being made in creditor compliance, ground improvements, academy structure, commercial confidence and club infrastructure all in hand, we can move forward with courteous confidence. My huge gratitude to the team working to achieve these goals.

I sincerely hope that the critics who are so intent on negativity will now put the past in the past and come back to the fold and contribute. You will be most welcome.

A little progress each day can end up with real success.

Thank you for your support, it’s really appreciated.
