The Boro' lose 5-0 at Weymouth
Gosport take another heavy lose on away at Weymouth
Gosport traveled to the Bob Lucas Stadium to take on 3rd place Weymouth FC.
With the host’s winning their last five at home it was always going to be a difficult task. The first half began and it did not take long before there was a goal, an upfield ball played to Weymouth’s Harry Baker for him to head a looping ball over a rushing Borough Goalkeeper Patrick O’Flaherty.
Gosport hit back with a few attacks of their own with some positive play moving into the oppositions box, evidently leading to nothing.
The second goal came on the 23rd minute courtesy of the league’s top scorer Brandon Goodship going one one one with O’Flaherty and slotting into the bottom right corner to double The Terra’s lead.
On the stroke of half-time, Goodship curled his 32nd of the season in from inside the box to give Weymouth a 3-0 lead going into the break.
The second half started and former Weymouth man Patrick Suraci came on for Jordan Brooks and made an instant impact as he played an upfield ball to Olunsanya, a perfect chance to hit back then wasted.
Goodship planted the ball in the back of the net for his hat-trick for Weymouth’s fourth of the afternoon after some great passing play. Gosport got nowhere near to the ball and the game was then out of sight.
The last real notable action of the game was an unfortunate attempt by Edward Sanders to clear the ball to prevent Goodship getting his fifth and instead ended up in the back of the net.
The game ended in a 5-0 win for Weymouth to boost their promotion hopes.
