Gosport beat Dunstable 2-0!
The Boro' put two past Dunstable securing a vital win
The game started with great anticipation, around sixty Gosport faithful made the trip to Creasey Park to cheer on The Boro' in the biggest game of the season.
Neither side looked to take real control of the ball in the first half, perhaps the occasion unsettled the players with nothing exciting coming from the game.
Gosport's midfield strung a few nice pieces of passing play together, ultimately leading to nothing. The first big chance of the game came in the 32nd minute, Dunstable had a shot which was cleared off the line by Ed Sanders, super eddy to the rescue.
A few chances hit at goal by Ryan Case and Rowan Vine both lead to nothing and wrapping up a rather dull first half.
The second half came to life at Creasey Park, both sides clearly understood what was at stake, Gosport, however, wanted it more.
Harry Medway and Ryan Case both played high up the pitch from the off, clearly looking to be on the offensive and take the first goal of the game. Harry made some great last ditch tackles and to his credit was very strong when one on one with the home sides offense.
Dunstable's players clearly looked to play the time-wasting game, their players going down after every tackle made, then seemingly taking an age to recover and get back on their feet. The physio with the magic touch on multiple occasions.
Such efforts to disturb The Boro's momentum all but failed in the 72nd minute, Ben Wright smashed home a cross from the right-hand side sending the traveling Boro' fans into dreamland. The home side struggled to obtain the ball on the build-up to the goal, Gosport deservedly took the lead after some very hard work.
The Boro' then doubled their lead five minutes later with a moment of class from substitute Craig McAlister, he shrugged off a number of Dunstable defenders before slotting the ball past Nathan Marness sending the mighty Boro' out of the relegation spot with one game to go.
The encounter finished with Gosport on top, Dunstable struggled to get back into the game after the second goal. A great game with both sides putting in a real shift, final score Dustable 0 Gosport 2.
We move on to the final game of the season this Saturday (28th April 2018) away against St Neots. With Dunstable playing Frome Town FC, we need to better or match their result, including goals scored to avoid relegation.
No matter what happens, tonight the players, staff, and fans proved we have fight and that there is the only one mighty Gosport. Up The Boro!
