2. Match Report - BORO’ Reserves beat Baffins Reserves 3 - 1

MATCH REPORT
GBFC Reserves VS Baffins Milton Rovers Reserves

Gosport Borough reserves kicked off the season with a 3-1 victory at Privett Park against Baffins Milton rovers who gained promotion to the Wyvern Premier league this season by winning the Wyvern East by 14 points last season.
Baffins made the stronger start forcing several corners but gosport held firm under the pressure with Luke Achurch seemingly blocking everything and winning every header. Boro’ then grew into the game and on the 28 minute mark got their reward with a well worked goal. Josh Harvey-gray played the ball at pace up the line to Liam Mears who set the ball for Matt Morris to hit a powerful cross finding Marcos Pavlou at the back post to head in off the cross bar.
Boro’ continued to create chances through out the half with Alpay Ali coming the closest from another Morris cross after some pleasing creative play through Jake Thompson and David Jerrard who were now pulling the strings in midfield.

The first half ended 1-0 to the hosts and it was Gosport who started the second half better and were popping the ball around at will. Boro's second goal optimised this. Jerrard and Thompson work the ball across the pitch to Morris who drove towards the box, then playing it to Liam Mears on the edge who clipped the ball in behind the defence for Jerrard to run onto. With a player in close attendance the off balance Jerrard placed the ball through the smallest of gaps to score in the bottom corner on 58 minutes. The third came 4 minutes later when more good play in middle found Morris on the right hand side once more. He drove inside finding Jerrard who played a well weighted ball for Pavlou to cooly slot the ball across the keeper into the bottom corner for his second.
Baffins now started applying some pressure of their own, playing directly and scored. They won the ball just inside Boro's half playing it into the striker who slipped the ball in for a team mate to lash the ball home leaving Lewis watch with no chance.
They then worked an opening on Boro's right and unleashed a power shot that was heading top corner only for watch to pull off a superb save by Watch to preserve their 2 goal lead.

The Boro’ reserves now move on to play Winchester City FC away in the league on Tuesday 27th August at 7:45. The venue is The Simplyhealth City Ground.
