The Feed a Family in Need with the Boro’ has caught the imagination of the town and club’s supporters alike and Privett Life editors Matt O’Connor-Simpson and Edd Champion were no exception.
At many clubs, supporter blogs have blown the humble fanzine away, but not at Gosport!
The latest issue of Privett Life - the fourth of the season - has been a roaring success, selling out and raising £250 for the campaign.
However you can still get your Boro’ fanzine fix as there is now a digital edition up and running for just £1.50. Click here to buy your copy and raise funds for the Feed a Family campaign
Editor and Founder Matt takes up the story of how the fanzine came about: "I started up Privett Life at the beginning of the season after returning to Gosport after university.
“I’ve always loved football magazines and Boro’ and with the club having such an exciting summer I thought it was the perfect time for the club to have a ‘zine of its own.
“A lot of people - including a lot of the players and management - have really bought into it which I genuinely did not expect to happen at all. Me and my second in command Edd started up a podcast just before Christmas which has helped increase engagement.
Issue Four of the fanzine was supposed to be released just as the COVID-19 pandemic started to spiral out of control.
“When the season got expunged, I just decided to push ahead and release it anyway with all proceeds going towards the club’s Feed a Family project.
“I was really nervous about it to be honest and didn’t expect to sell more than a handful of copies to cover our costs. A couple of weeks on and we’ve raised £250 for Keith’s volunteers. I’m buzzing about it to be honest.
“As for the future, I’ve had a few thoughts about formalising Privett Life into some sort of supporters club. Then again, that’s quite a lot of work… We’ll have to wait and see!
“Both Edd and I are massively excited about next season - whenever that is - particular the news that the bar might be getting a few new variety of premium lagers."
